Designer Biography
When choosing  to have a custom dress made, you are not only choosing a
dress but a designer who will interpret your wants and needs.  Designer Amanda
May started sewing at the age of  eight in 4-H where she learned the skills of
sewing, patience, and how to make the best better.  As she grew up, her desire to
create grew stronger. This desire to create inspired her to attend the
accomplished  Jerry Rodgers and Shannon Silverman School of Fashion Design
and Merchandising at Kent State University.  While at Kent State, her design
skills were recognized in several ways.  She was asked to participate in the
prestigious CFDA design competition, she placed in the National Brown Shoe
Company design competition, and her designs were selected for display to
represent the school.  Amanda's greatest complement while at Kent State
University came from world renowned designer Ralph Rucci who declared that
her Senior line was amazing.  Her greatest accomplishment came when she
earned an internship at Vera Wang Luxe and after one month was hired.   While
working for Vera Wang, she learned the design and business skills necessary to
make a world famous designer successful.  In 2006 Amanda opened her first
studio and launched AmandaMay Bridal. She has since been designing and
sewing for brides of all types.  In 2007 Amanda designed and sewed over 40
gowns. At the same time, she expanded her sales to Carlisle's of Pittsburgh,
which is the oldest bridal store in the country.  Later, she became the designer
for La Bliss Wedding Planners located in Greensburg PA.  Finally, in November
she created a second studio.  Her future plans include launching her new lines in
Washington D.C. and other major cities.  Amanda is thankful to all of the people
who have helped her.  She believes that her strong drive to meet people's needs,
while accenting their best features, will help to strengthen her business and
continue with AmandaMay Bridal.
